To sum Giovanni up in a few words, he's an extraordinarily competitive, energetic and hardworking individual. He enjoys putting his work above everything else, and even might seem like an exaggerated workaholic at first glance. However, wandering the world for far more than a regular human lifetime has made Giovanni shift from his previous, difficult attitude, and adapt to a more optimistic, joyful and patient posture. Giovanni's actions are impulsive and overflowing with positive energy - you'll rarely see him upset, let alone gloomy, and if you're depressed, he'll very likely try to cheer you up with some of his cheesy Italian phrases.

On the other hand, old habits die hard, and Giovanni's behavior still experiences negative traits he used to have in his old human days. It's exceptionally hard for him to speak the truth, and so he finds himself lying from time to time to evade problems or uncomfortable situations. Gio also likes manipulating people into doing things he wants them to do, and quite frequently, his plans succeed by adding one or two flirty compliments. Pride, egoism, and selfishness are one of his main motivations for the decisions he makes. Although his work ethic and approach of business related subjects might not imply it, Gio lives for the moment and tries to enjoy himself as much as he can, whenever he can, wherever he can, hardly ever thinking about what tomorrow will bring him.

I didn't think I'd ever need a TL;DR version, but I really couldn't put it shorter.

TL;DR

✦ Giovanni was born to a prosperous and wealthy merchant Family in Venice, specialized in trading gems and fine metal with the Middle East.
✦ He was a rather bad person, only cared about himself, broke women's hearts and behaved sinful whenever he could. However, he was a very hardworking merchant though and helped out his family's business in many different ways.
✦ He participated in an overpriced auction for old Arabian gold oil lamps while he was drunk and bought 100 oil lamps but all of them turned out to be fake minus one that actually contained a djinn.
✦ By accident he wakes the Djinn and she tells him she will stay with him until she grants him a wish
✦ Gio doesn't want to waste his wish right now, but his djinn annoys the living lights out of him and he snaps and switches places with the Djinn. (who he decided to name Pepita)
✦ Gio has to follow the now human girl around because she has his lamp and together they work as traveling merchants; eventually, she dies of high age, and leaves Gio alone and finally free.
✦ Gio happens to stumble upon the Cirque where he can finally sell his goods without having to fear any kind of consequences

Giovanni's story begins in Venice - As the first born son of a prosperous and wealthy merchant family specialized in trading gems and fine metal with the Middle East, Giovanni lead a carefree life in his youth. Spoiled, frivolous and lightheaded, Giovanni only cared about himself and his personal needs, broke women's hearts and behaved sinful whenever he could, simply because he damn well felt like it. However, even though his behavior left much to be desired, Giovanni was a very hardworking merchant and helped his family's business to gain even more influence in every possible way.

Unsurprisingly, binge drinking wasn't unusual for the young man either - one evening, as he roamed through the streets of Venice with his equally drunk friends, they stumbled upon an overpriced auction for antique Arabian gold oil lamps. Giovanni's malicious switch turned, and led by his boisterous and greedy emotions, he decided to participate in the auction just to show how much money he can fritter away.

Fortunately (or rather unfortunately actually) Giovanni won the auction by offering an absurd amount of money for 100 gold oil lamps. His victory lasted only until his drunkenness wore off - woken by a killer hangover, Giovanni suddenly found himself amidst waist-high piles of Arabian gold lamps. Real Arabian gold oil lamps? Wait, those don't usually get sold on shady small auctions in entertainment districts, right -- The man threw an expert glance at the goods, and suddenly, the entire household was on their feet, awoken by furious Italian cursing and violent clattering.

As ill luck would have it, Giovanni did not only fritter away and enormous sum of money, but he also bought goods worth absolutely nothing in return. However, chance brought it about that Giovanni's purchase wasn't worthless altogether. Among all other pathetic copies, there indeed was one Arabian gold lamp that was special. He noticed soon as he was about to throw it out of the window and was suddenly held back by an unknown force.

''Oh, you like it rough, hmm...?''
Giovanni turned around, but surprisingly enough, there was no one in his room.
''I'm here you idiot.''
The oil lamp inside his hand started shaking, as if something inside it was moving. Startled, Giovanni dropped it and backed away a couple of footsteps, rubbing his eyes and cursing the Tuscan wine he had drank the night before. A human-like ghost girl had appeared right in front of his eyes out of thin air. Completely speechless for quite a while, the creature inside the oil lamp introduced itself. Apparently, she was a djinn trapped in an old oil lamp, and she would stay by his side until she granted him one wish. Before she could even finish her sentence though, Giovanni somehow managed to stuff her back into her lamp, and carefully locked the oil lamp in a massive box under his bed. Cold sweat was running down his forehead and he was breathing hard. He was never going to drink alcohol again in his life. Ever.

''... Why did you do that, dear! I promise I will love you, and take care of you, and call you my precious little Cobra and sing you to sleep whenever you feel down-'', a voice next to his ear whispered, and Giovanni screamed his lungs out for the twentieth time this day, it seemed.

''WHAT IS YOUR PROBLEM---- JUST...WHAT THE ... HELL...???''
Giovanni held his chest in a frantic way. He was going to die of a heart attack before reaching 20, and right now, he questioned absolutely every single goal he had in his life. He still hadn't made love to a dark skinned beauty, he still hadn't skinny dipped on the Piazza San Marco, and damn, he still hadn't crossdressed on a masquerade ball. God dammit, Giovanni, get your priorities straight.

A couple of heart attacks later, Gio realized his newly found... friend... wouldn't leave him as soon as he had hoped. Not at all- Gio didn't want to waste his precious wish right now, and his djinn, who he named Pepita after some time, knew that and made sure to drown him in utmost love and care. For Giovanni however, it was hell on earth. Eventually, he snapped, but he snapped in a... too eloquent way. Unfortunately.

Voilá, Giovanni found himself locked up in an oil lamp the size of his hand, and Pepita turned into a living, breathing human. Pepita had waited for her moment to strike, and now she finally got what she wanted - she was free of her cage, and could wander around as much as she wanted, with Gio, her precious little pet djinn, at her side.

Many years passed, Gio had to follow around Pepita wherever she went, and even though her excessive love and care for him didn't falter, Gio learned to live with it. Or, lets just say, he didn't really have another choice. Together the two collected and sold various strange items they found all over Europe and traveled through many different places. Pepita however, now that she was a human, grew older and older, and eventually died, leaving Gio alone and finally free. Time had changed Gio, though. Slowly but steadily, he began realizing that being a bad person only makes him more bitter and pessimistic than he already was, and he decided to become a better person, for his own sake.

After wandering around in Europe for almost 200 years, Giovanni happened to stumble upon the Cirque des Rêves, finally finding a place where he can sell his goods without having to fear any consequences.

drawing and sketching - even though he isn't a particularly good artist, Gio usually carries around a little sketchbook and one or two pencils with him (he doesn't have an eraser, he just gets some old bread if he needs one lol). He keeps those in his oversized pants and takes them out whenever he's has a free minute. Usually Gio ends up sketching everything that piques his interest, from objects, to scenery, to humans or even animals.

He keeps his magic lamp hidden somewhere in his trailer and only close friends of Gio could even stand a chance of seeing it
He enjoys lifting small people and twirling them around in the air. Even if they complain 8)
Gio spends most of his time in his trailer. However, when he's not in there, he loves spending time at the carnival section of the cirque.
Unlike Djinn Pepita, Gio has a physical body. This is because he was a human, but then got turned into a Djinn. He can, however, dissolve into thin air and go back into his lamp, but he simply doesn't. Human beds are just too comfortable 8) Plus, he does consider himself a human creature in the first place, minus the.. relative immortality bit.

wow he's super pretty! I love his little lamp it's so cute lol I couldn't image how small it would be in his hands, he really is a giant! I was wondering though do you still rp this character?
